Lion's eye
I love Halloween. Maybe it is because of my little Goth era in high school, or the mysticism that is underneath it all...I dunno.
I had a good time tonight. It was Tristen's first Halloween and he had a little fuzzy lion costume, complete with the itty-bitty lion tail. Angie and I tried to draw little whiskers on his cheeks with eye liner, but they ended up crooked and smudged on his ‘lil baby face, we also dabbed some brown eye shadow on his nose for the whole little lion face effect. I loaded T up in the car and drove him a couple of blocks down to the armory where all of the other neighborhood kids were headed, dolled up in their ninja outfits and beauty queen dresses. They made the kids parade around in a circle according to age groups and they voted for the best costume. After that they let the kids run wild and gave out candy and pop making every boy and girl bounce off the floor from a sugar high the size of Canada. My little brother spent around 7 dollars on the cake walk…he brought back 3 cakes, I have never seen a boy so proud to give his mom 3 cakes. Anyway, nearing the end of the evening (this is the best part) Tristen is crashed out - poor little guy just couldn’t stay awake one more moment. Despite the screaming kids, crying babies, and loud cakewalk music, he managed to sleep. He looked so beautiful, with his little lion hat on, his eyeliner streaked cheeks, and the faded brown eye shadow on his nose. ....Happy Halloween

A needed reiteration

Someone once told me that you should always surround yourself with things and people that bring out something extrodinary in you. Nothing ordianary but the better parts of who you are. Of course it is common sense but if you think about it, you probably do have some of 'those' people who you chose to be around that really have a negative impact on either your mood,feelings,actions...etc. Sure they may have their moments of "fun" but is it all really worth that torturous reality of what they do to you?

Nietzsche
How Rhythm Beautifies.- Rhythm casts a veil over reality; it causes various artificiality's of speech and obscurities of thought; by the shadow it throws upon thought it sometimes conceals it, and sometimes brings it into prominence. As shadow is necessary to beauty, so the "dull" is necessary to lucidity. Art makes the aspect of life endurable by throwing over it the veil of obscure thought.

Last night Mr. Hat and I volunteered to take 5 teenage girls to a Haunted Mansion:
~ 12 year old girls know just about every song on the pop/r&b music radio stations
~ said girls trotted through the haunted mansion with the 13 year old boy
~ When asked which girl liked said boy, a bunch of giggles followed by 5 pointing fingers in all directions followed by a small spout of arguing.
~ After the stop at the Mansion we went to McDonalds where they all stared, pointed, blushed, then insanely giggled at a guy whose jeans had a huge hole in his ass revealing a pair of flannel boxers
~ All Mr. Hat had to do was smile at those girls and there they would go giggling again. (they may have developed a little crush by the end of the evening)
~ Felt really old when Mr. Hat and I were lagging behind the girls as they were whining at us to hurry up.
~ Felt really insanely old when I switched the radio to the rock station and Stairway to Heaven was playing and they said it sucked. I then asked them if they have ever heard of the classic by Led Zeppelin and I got the cliched….Who?
~ Noticed how 12 year old girls dress like they are 22 year old virgins and are tired of being so
~ One of the perks to being their taxi – the 2001 Lincoln Navigator that was our ride.
~ I think I wish I were twelve again. They seemed to have fun…I mean if they can giggle for that long, I think they would have had to.

I feel like shit. I have mild like flu symptoms (insert pitiful whine here and UPS some chicken soup).
And yet here are a few reasons why I am most simply divine:

1. My mother sent me flowers yesterday at work. The card read, “I’m proud of you. You are awesome.”
2. Mr. Hat manages to make me laugh and smile everyday.
3. Tristen did not wake up crying, instead he played in his crib for a while and he was oh so happy about it.
4. Deep down somewhere hiding behind dirty diapers and underneath a Middle American job, is my sex drive.
5. The smell in the air this time of year...
6. I have not taken my Paxil for 3 days now and I have not broken down sobbing and thinking my life is over for no apparent reason – not even a little tiny bit.
7. Yesterday although feeling oh so sick…I redecorated my room and little bit of my kitchen. The décor incorporated lots of silk scarves…
8. I may go to goodwill today and see if I can find some ugly green curtains.
9. I refuse to pick up a cigarette today.
10. I have the day off, to spend with my son.

Booty call

I get bored easily at work. (I have a new job being a manager at an IGA, I know its not the highest job on the social scale, but it pays well and I like it) Anyway, I found an interesting way to entertain myself. I lean against the counter at work and stick my ass out a just a little bit ,to see how many men (and women) look at it. I do this for maybe five minuets and then move on to find something different to do. It is quite an ego boost and I find that more women look at my butt than men. This strikes me as odd.

Some things that suck…. (blog idea courtesy of Ms. Lauren)

1. Old woman walking a dog, lets her scruffy little mutt pee on your car tires
2. Said tire smells like dog urine and other random little mutts pee on your tire too
3. Having cigarettes and no lighter (or vice versa)
4. Loving someone so much and yet the find a way to run your heart through a potato peeler
5. Having no chocolate
6. Not being able to drive safely in the presence of a certain person
7. Riding with someone who cannot drive safely in your presence
8. Hack into someone’s email account and they find out and change their password *ahem*
9. When your toes are cold and you step into a hot shower or bath
10. Thinking of clever little things that suck

99,98,97,96,95….

I tried to hypnotize a few friends of mine last night. To my dismay, both attempts failed. I have successfully hypnotized 3 other individuals. The one girl’s mom told me I was to never return to her home or speak to her daughter again. The other two were not so dramatic. The last time I practiced this I hypnotized a 35-40 year old man at a dinner party my ex-step dad was throwing. What entertainment, I tell ya! I just wanted to pick and prod through this guy’s head but I played nice seeing as there were witnesses to my dabbling. I did a simple relaxation/visualization type of thing. I am really intrigued as to the power of what hypnosis can do. I guess you could say I am picking up a new hobby?
